We recently had Smoky Mountain Deck Builders renovate our deck. It originally was supposed to just be a project involving replacing the wood boards with Trex and adding Trex Fascia. However, some significant rot was discovered with the framing during the demo so we ended up changing to a much more involved project including replacing about 80% of the frame and adding Trex underskirt and getting steel railing and a lighting system. At first, we were assigned a crew that they had outsourced and were not company employees. After about a week Christian realized they were not doing an adequate job and asked me if he could replace them with another crew and I agreed. It was a positive reflection on the integrity of the company that they did this. They could have easily just let that crew finish up and I might not have noticed some of the things that were wrong. It ultimately cost the company money (extra time and redoing some of the work the first crew had done at no extra cost to me). Ultimately, after a new crew was assigned, they did a great job with the deck. Frank initially did a great job doing the initial advising appointment for me and estimate. Christian was very helpful initially about going over additional options with me once we had to revise the project. The second crew they assigned me (Ethin and Beckett) did an excellent job and were good workers. The owner (Nick) was very responsive when I called him with some concerns and questions during the job. The job took much longer than expected (due to having to replace the first crew and things like sickness and weather delays and supply delays) but we are very happy with the outcome. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing a deck built or repaired.
